'God’s Call on Your Life'

who lived 750 years before Jesus. Prophets don’t just announce, “Hey, ya’ll, I’m a prophet.” They had to be called by God; so that it was by God’s authority that they could speak to the leaders and people of Israel. Isaiah 6 is a powerful look into Isaiah’s calling:

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Notice the sequence of the call:

1.    Isaiah sees God in all His holiness demonstrated. Winged Angels surround him proclaiming, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty”.

2.    Isaiah is suddenly aware of his lack of holiness and confesses his sins to God. When we see God, we see ourselves more clearly.

3.    God sends an angel to purify Isaiah from his sins. The holy Lord Almighty makes Isaiah holy. Isaiah made holy can stand in the presence of The Holy.

4.    God then challenges Isaiah, “Whom shall I send.” God has made Isaiah holy so that he can carry the prophecy that comes from God.

5.    Isaiah responds, “Here I am. Send me.” Isaiah embraces his call to be a prophet of the Lord Almighty.

Have you been in the presence of God like this? Have you caught a glimpse of God’s holiness when hearing or reading about the Father and His Son? You have two options: You can run from the Holy God or you can humble yourself and repent.

As John says, “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” You cannot cleanse or forgive yourself. Only God can. Fortunately, that is exactly what He is yearning to do. God loves you and wants to set you free from your past sins so that you can live a new life in Him and by the Holy Spirit. Finally, God has a job for you to do. You have a purpose, a destiny to fulfill.

What does God want you to do for Him? What gifts and talents has God given you to use? Who has God put in your life – family, friends, colleagues? God wants you to demonstrate and tell of His love, forgiveness, and holiness so that they two can encounter the Lord Almighty.

You have been forgiven for a purpose; blessed to be a blessing.
