Two Men in a Desert
friend. The second man bent down and wrote in the sand, ‘My friend cursed me today.’ Later, they came upon an oasis in which they found water and shade from a tree. The first man thanked the second for knowing where he was going and getting them to the oasis at the point of their exhaustion. The second man found a stone and chiseled into it, ‘My friend was grateful and thanked me today.’ What a great parable for us today.
We need to write in the sand the sins committed against us. The winds and sands of time will erase the hurt. When we chisel the good done to us, we memorialize kindness which we can return to again and again.
“Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” (Col 3:13)
