Your Journey to Jesus in 2025'

The magi had to resist two temptations. First, they could have given into fear. They were going on a long journey that could be dangerous. It would cost them personally – not in money as much as the demands on them to persevere, to brave the rough terrain, and be ready to fight of bandits. They could have been too fearful to make the journey to Jesus. Second, they could have been too self-satisfied. They lived in luxury with everything they could want. They were part of the elite with the ear of the king and influence in the religious affairs. They didn’t lack for anything. They could have said to themselves, “Wow, did you see that constellation indicating a great king, even king of kings, will be born? Yeah, let’s send someone else. I’m in a good place with the king right now. I think I may get a promotion with new responsibilities. I don’t have time to check out this new king. It will take me away too long.”

I think that we can relate to those two temptations. We know that God will demand of us when we draw closer to Him. We will have to give up control and trust Him to lead us through the deserts, mountains, and rivers in our journey with Him. Following Jesus is not always safe. We also can fall into the temptation of being too self-satisfied. Our lives are pretty good. We have all the money I need, connections, opportunities, health, etc. We say to ourselves, “Do I really need to change? I don’t want to risk upsetting this beautiful apple cart that I am in.”

Munholland will not give in to temptations of fear and self-satisfaction. Let’s trust God and lean fully into the journey toward Jesus. Our lives will be transformed in amazing ways just like with the Magis.

 Blessings,

Jonathan
