'Sowing for a Harvest'

therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matt 9:37-38). They saw the need and decided that they were the ones the Lord of the Harvest had called to go into His harvest field. And so began the vision that became a reality in 1936 by the power of the Holy Spirit. At the same time, they were sowing seeds of the Kingdom in expectation of a future harvest. The thousands of people who decided to follow Jesus, were discipled in their faith, were recipients of missional service, and worshipped at Munholland are all part of the harvest Jesus promised them. They didn’t know what the harvest would look like or how big it would be, but they trusted Jesus’ calling.

On Oct. 15, 2023, Munholland Methodist Church (GMC) had a rebirth. It has been handed to us to continue to sow and harvest. We sow our resources and our service. People say, “you get out of it what you put in.” But we expect a lot more than what we put in. All we know is that, in time, the seed will grow and another harvest will be brought in. Paul writes in Gal 6:8-9: "Whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Eternal life is both near and far. We sow for the present but expect even more in the future.

The Munholland of today is the harvest of a field sown in faith in 1936. The Munholland of the future will be the harvest of what you and I sow today. Let’s do all we can to increase the harvest.

Blessings,

Jonathan
