'Trust in Christ'

Frustration in one area bleeds over into another area, and I end up treating people poorly for something they were not even a part of. Being led by my gut reaction does not produce human flourishing, just the opposite. In ‘Change Anything’ by Joseph Grenny, he writes that there is a phenomena where a person wants a good result but does the very things that produce more of what they don’t like. Ever wanted a person to be nice to you but all you showed was frustration toward them? We can get into a doom loop in our relationships. That is the farthest thing from an ‘abundant life’ (John 10:10).

Irenaeus said that ‘The glory of God is man fully alive.’ What he is getting at is that God made us to thrive in His universe. He fashioned us and gave us talents, passions, and gifts to be fully alive in our world. There is only one way to become fully alive, and that is to trust in Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to reshape you. If you do what you have always done, you will get the same result. If you do as the Holy Spirit directs, you will have a brand new, flourishing life. It doesn’t happen all at once, but when you try following the Spirit, you will see the results and become convinced of God’s wisdom and power to change your life and relationships.

God wants to pull you out of the doom-loop of your relationships and your self-inflicted wounds. Trust in Jesus’ grace and the Holy Spirits power to make all things new. God is in the business of making your life abundant. Let Him do just that!

Blessed to be a blessing,

Jonathan
